This series of work, PAST TENSE, is comprised of five walks taken over five days of the week in September 2017. I left from the same place, my home, each morning, and walked parts of the words PAST and TENSE each day. A day is loaded with significance when it begins, and typically ends in a much more benign frame of mind. I reflect on the potential for what should happen, and then at the end of the day, I reflect on what did occur. Mornings thus are most tumultuous. Days begin, sometimes with angst, and end. Things get done, some things don’t. Unplanned events happen.

A drawing begins with a surface. The most difficult thing for me is to begin. The easiest thing is to continue what has already begun. I rarely appreciate looking back.
